Introduction

Do you often feel tired, fatigued, irritated or at discomfort in your home, workplace or vehicle? If yes, you may be a victim of poor Indoor Air Quality.
I have compiled a list of 4 simple steps that you can follow to drastically improve the Indoor Air Quality.

good ventilation in room

1. Good ventilation

Open windows from time to time to allow fresh air to move into the room. Otherwise, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) can quickly accumulate in a closed room and causes health problems.

If you are in a car, change the ventilation mode of the car to allow the outside air in from time to time.

Especially rooms where multiple people gather in for long time, e.g., Conference Room, can have very bad air quality. In such rooms, good ventilation is a MUST!

2. Keep rugs, carpets, curtains clean

Rugs, carpets, pillows and curtains act as their own air filters, trapping dust and other particles in their many fibers.

Clean your carpets and rugs weekly and they will keep working for you, improving the air quality in your home just by lying there!

Not cleaning them regularly will release that trapped dust and pollen back at you at an even higher concentration!

3. Use Cooking Vents

Many indoor air pollutants come from the kitchen. Gas stoves release harmful contaminants, including carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide.

So, when you or any of your family member is cooking, be sure to turn on your kitchen vents, or open a nearby window or turn on the overhead fan to help filter out the air even more.

4. Invest in an good quality Indoor Air Quality Monitor

This device monitors the indoor air and continuously measures the quantity of various air pollutants.

As soon as one of them goes beyond the permissible limit, it warns you so that you can take the necessary action.

Having an IAQ Monitor work 24x7 ensures that you know the air quality around you and can actively take steps to improve it!
